Parent & Kid Wiffle Ball Tournament

This is the information page for Play NC’s 2026 Parent & Kid 4v4 Wiffle Ball Tournament!

Parents can sign up to play Wiffle Ball with their 8-14 year old child, being placed on the same team as two other Parent / Child combinations in a blind-draw format. Sign up with your kid, get paired with two other Parents and two other Kids, make a team of six, and dominate a fun Wiffle Ball tournament!

What: Wiffle Ball tournament to raise money for a good cause!
Who: Any Parent / Child combination
When: Saturday, July 11
Where: Miracle League of the Triangle’s Durham location
How: We will be playing a “Blind-Draw” team assignment format, with all Parent / Child pairs signing up as a group and teams being randomly selected 1 week prior to the event.

  • Teams will be equally weighted by Player Age, with all teams having approximately the same average age among team members.
  • Teams will have 6 players on the roster, with 3 sets of Parent / Child groups on each team.
  • We will play 4 Players in the field on defense and all players in the batting lineup on offense.
  • We will follow general Durham Wiffle Ball rules, with some kid-focused exceptions.
  • The “Blind-Draw” format will ensure teams are relatively fair and balanced, while giving kids a reason to play with a new group of friends.

Quirks about Parent / Child format:

  • Teams will be made of 6 players: 3 Parents and 3 Kids
    • Defense: Parents must play with Kids, so the 4-player Defense will be two sets of Parent / Kids.
    • Offense: Teams must alternate Parent / Kid in the lineup, and the lineup may not have the same family back-to-back in the order.
  • Games will be 3 Innings, plus possible extras:
    • Each inning, one Parent / Kid pair will sit out, leaving the other two Parent / Kid pairs playing defense.
  • If two Parents from one family want to play with two Kids, the pairs will be placed on separate teams.
    • Fair? Debatable. Fun? Oh yeah.
  • Parents are obligated to avoid the Kids.
    • All normal fielder interference / obstruction rules are ignored if a Kid is involved.
    • Parents are 100%, at all times, required to avoid any contact in the field with a Kid.
    • If you ever get Out because you avoided colliding with a child, I will buy you a beer, in thanks.

Goal: Fill 8 teams with 24 kids and 24 adults who want to play Wiffle Ball, have a fun time, and help support local charities.
