Co-Ed Rec Softball Registration Benefits

  • All players receive a League jersey, made by RDU Print Studio in Durham.
  • Durham Bulls tickets (in the fancy seats) will be awarded to the winners of End-of-Season Tournaments.
  • We are working on getting local bars or restaurants near the American Tobacco campus to sponsor our league and provide a free drink to players after our games!
  • Getting to play Wiffle Ball on one of the most amazing fields you’ve ever seen!
  • The good feeling of supporting Durham non-profits!

We will be playing Recreational, Co-ed, Adult (18+), Wiffle Ball. Full Game Rules are available here.

Slow-Pitch / Pitch-to-Hit Format:

  • Speed Limit of 40mph, enforced by a radar gun.
  • Slightly harder than soft-toss, but mostly pitch-to-hit.
  • This allows more balls to be hit into play and more action on the field.

The Weekly League and Summer Tournament will allow both team and individual registrations.

  • Teams will have 4-8 total players on their roster.
  • Individuals will be paired with 5-7 other individual registrations to form a “Free Agent” team.

Teams will need at least 4 players available, including 1 female, to participate each night.

  • Defensive Lineups will be made up of 4 players per side, including at least 1 female on the field.
  • Offensive Lineups will include all available players on the team, including at least 1 female in the lineup.

In-Game Challenges:

  • “Hit Bull, Win Steak” Challenge: The amazing Miracle League field has a replica Bull and replica Blue Monster in Left Field. Just like the classic DAP promotion, if a Durham Wiffle Ball player hits a home run AND hits the Bull, they will win a $30 gift card to PIE PUSHERS PIZZA!
  • “K-Zone” Challenge: Our league uses a 18″ x 24″ strike zone, with a 6″ x 6″ hole in the middle. This hole is considered the “K-Zone” and is worth 2 strikes, if the ball successfully passes through the hole on the pitch. If any Pitcher hits the “K-Zone” during any game, they will earn entry into an end-of-season pitching contest to be held during our Championship week. Prize is still TBD, but we will promise a minimum of $100 in prize value, whatever it becomes during the season.
  • Home Run Challenge: If any player hits a home run during a game, they will receive entry into an end-of-season hitting contest to be held during our Championship week. Prize is still TBD, but we will promise a minimum of $100 in prize value, whatever it becomes during the season.

We will be playing two types of Wiffle Ball events this season.

The WEEKLY LEAGUE will feature a 9-game regular season and a 1-week playoff tournament.

  • 10 Friday Nights, 6:10pm-8:40pm, between May-September
    • We will be playing every Friday night that the Durham Bulls don’t have a Home game.
      • May 3, 17, & 31
      • June 21
      • July 12 & 19
      • August 9 & 23
      • September 6 & 20
      • Playoffs: September 27

The SUMMER TOURNAMENT will feature a Round Robin format during Week 1 and a double-elimination format for Week 2.

  • 2 Sundays, 10am-8pm
    • July 14 & 21

Registrations for the Summer Tournament will open in March 2024. League Teams will receive $20 off the Summer Tournament registration fee, but that will be a separate transaction.
